Currently, there are numerous hospitals adopted it as management strategy, that would obtain ascertainable supplies or needs, and would reduce the mistaken strategies or cost expenditures through the vertical integrated strategy. This study investigated the method of vertical integration to be part of the hospital management strategy in the structure of hospital organization. That kind of mode could get to know the patients well and go deep into community externally; moreover, it could integrate medical resources and improve the medical qualities internally. The subjects of this investigation were the medical service of the severe psychological patients in a teaching hospital of southern Taiwan. The study employed World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire(WHOQOL)、Schizophrenia Health Questionnaire(SHQ) 、Chinese Health Questionnaire(CHQ)、Eysenck Personality Inventory(EPI)、Parental Bounding Instrument(PBI)and Toronto Alexithymia Scale(TAS). The results showed that the management strategy of the vertical integration could ensure the sources of adequate patients, developing and managing the patients within the upper reaches. The integration of the lower reaches was let the psychological patients return to the community and offer sustained service according to the traits of patients in order to provide a better quality of medication and cares. The models of home care and community-rehabilitation and half way house treatments could be adjusted for the patients’ needs on the premises of patients’autonomy and life satisfaction. Furthermore, if the medical cost was considered, the intervention of home care treatment would have a better economy benefit that could also be the further references for clinical cares.
