Taiwan is also currently confronted with the increase of population, vehicles and buildings, leading to the living environment some unfavorable elements, such as congestion, insecurity and pollution. Therefore, the government has proposed some improvement plans. One of them is “Townscape Model Reconstruction Plan,” which takes ecology, sustainable operation and environmental protection as the main issues. And “Community Reconstruction” just meets the strategy of sustainable operation most. Under the leadership of the strategies of the Central Government, different local governments immediately started a series of reconstruction movements. Unexceptionally, Kaohsiung City also joins the reconstruction work. From the large-scale infrastructure to the local projects that meet the community needs, all of them involve the improvement of the living environment. The study is based on the item “Trails for Community School Students to Walk to and from School” under “Community Reconstruction” implemented according to the policies of the Central Government. The paper takes the case study of the Central-subsidized trails for the community school students of Kaohsiung City to walk to and from school as the research area, and the people actually using the trails as the research targets. Through the ways of literature review, on-the-spot observation, taking photographs and questionnaire survey, the study investigates the users’ satisfaction and acceptance of the established trails for walking to and from school, sees whether different plans meet the expected effects in times of implementation, and proposes the conclusions and suggestions. From the above research results, it is shown that in the aspect of factors, the people at the age level between 30 and 39 have a greater perception of the trails for walking to and from school than the people at the age level between 10 and 19. The people with an education standard of above university have a greater perception of the trails for walking to and from school than the people with an education standard of primary school The residents living nearby have a greater perception of the trails for walking to and from school than the students. In the aspect of variables, most of the users take a positive attitude towards the construction of the trails for walking to and from school, especially on the functions of convenience and landscape. Among the elements of the trails for walking to and from school, plantation and decoration by creative artworks are the most popular elements. Besides, regarding the functions of the trails for walking to and from school in decreasing the collision between man and vehicles, achieving the convenience of walking, promoting the artistic interests, increasing the interaction with classmates, and adding positive effects to the environment, the users show the greatest agreement.
