Summary:碩士 === 實踐大學 === 家庭研究與兒童發展學系碩士班 === 96 === The elementary school students’ and parents’ attitudes, children’s participation and parents’ involvement toward children’s English learning in Tao Yuan County The purpose of this study was to investigate the elementary school students’ and parents’ attitudes toward children’s English learning,(This included children’s English learning advantage, disadvantage , the practical value and cultural value), children’s participation and parents’ involvement, also the parents’ and children’s perception of participation and involvement. Furthermore, it probed the different opinions between parents and children and the correlation of children’s English grades. This survey was based on self-designed questionnaires consisting of 886 students of 4th & 6th grade and 778 parents drawing from 15 elementary schools in Tao Yuan County. The data was analyzed by mean and standard deviation, t-test, one-way ANOVA and Pearson product-moment correlation. The major findings were as follows: 1. There are significant differences in learning disadvantage and involvement toward children’s English learning among the parents of different education degrees. 2. The female students’ English learning attitudes, the participation and the perception of parents’ involvement in learning English are better than the male students’. The 4th grade students’ participation and the perception of parents’ involvement in learning English are better than the 6th grade students’. 3. There are significant correlation between both of the parents’ attitudes and the students’ attitudes toward children learning English, children’s participation ,parents’ involvement and the children’s English achievement. 4. There are significant differences among the students’ and the parents’ attitudes toward children’s English learning advantage, practical value, cultural value and parents’ involvement.
