Summary:碩士 === 慈濟大學 === 教育研究所 === 96 === This is a narrative study that aims to explore the missions of Chinese literacy teachers who teach foreign spouses in Taiwan. The focus is to explore their motivation for the career, their multicultural perspective, and their self-development during the career. Five Chinese literacy teachers participated in this study. All of them have more than two years of experience in teaching foreign spouses in Taiwan. were collected through interviews and participant observation. The Data results show that they are motivated either by their interest or by others’ encouragement. During the career, they constantly use awards to motivate the students and rely on previous experience. They also use real things to attract students. They take inservice courses to equip themselves. And they are becoming more capable of understanding foreign spouses and their children. Although their multicultural perspective may still be narrow, they strive to empathize with the foreign spouses and gradually teach not only literacy but also culture. Pedagogical implications and suggestions for relative government agencies are discussed at the end of the thesis.
