Finally, this study probes into the relationship between knowledge intensity of KIBS and economic benefits. We measure the knowledge intensity of KIBS through those indicators: education, vocational training, W.W.W. on-line, information expenditure, utility rate of computers, and knowledge workers. Then we analyze the relationship between knowledge intensity of KIBS and economic benefits, especially sales growth rates and margin. This study is examined for 11 service industries in Taiwan by using panel data during 2001-2006. There are four empirical findings: (1) High level of education, high level of vocational training, high rate of W.W.W. on-line, high information expenditure, high utility rate of computers, and high level of knowledge workers those are characteristic of KIBS for “six high”. (2) “Educational services”, “Public administration”, “Professional, scientific and technical services”, and “Finance and insurance” those four are high knowledge density KIBS; “Health care and social welfare services”, “Cultural, sporting and recreational services” and “Transport, storage and communication” those three are general knowledge density KIBS; “Trade”, “Real estate and rental and leasing”, “Other services” and “Accommodation and eating-drinking places” those four are low knowledge density KIBS. (3) After analyzing those two stages (stages 1: 2001-2003; stages 2: 2004-2006), we find two conclusions. One is that the industries didn’t cross through the primary cluster during the two periods, but the ranks of the KIBS moved slightly. Another one is that the levels of knowledge intensity for Taiwan’ KIBS are increased year by year. (4) Utility rate of computers, vocational training and knowledge workers are significantly positive influence on sales growth rates. And Utility rate of computers and information expenditure have positively impact on margin. We can say that higher knowledge intensity, more economic benefits.
