The thesis mainly examines the influence of post-succession on companies and proofs the hypotheses from related literature. The thesis divided succession into three parts: heir apparent succession, noheir succession, and outside succession, to examine the effect of post-succession of CEO happened in listed companies from Taiwan Stock Exchange Corporation. The thesis collected the succession events in listed companies in Taiwan happened from 2000 to 2005 and proceeded the hierarchical regression analysis to examine the changes. The result shows the changes that outside succession brings to top management team, strategy, and performance are higher than heir succession does to them. In addition, the effect of adding the moderator of pre-succession performance shows that heir apparent succession could ease the change in performance from before and after the succession.
