Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺北科技大學 === 光電工程系研究所 === 96 === In this study, polymer stabilized liquid crystal was used to develop a twist optically compensated bend mode LCD. We employed some mixtures of liquid crystal and monomer. In order to produce high pretilt angle, a curing voltage, VUV, was applied on the cell as being irradiated by UV light. The liquid crystal molecules aligned with the polymer nework, so the cell has high pretilt angle by 20 ~ 28. Because of the twist-to-splay energy barrier, the undisturbed cell could stay at twist state. The response time, T-V curve and viewing angle dependence of the sample cell were measured to evaluate the potential in the display application. Simulation on the T-V characteristics of the optically compensated bend mode with different pretilt angles was also shown.
