The application of visual media has also progressed, improved, and become more common. One type of visual media that has played a large role in this expansion is movies, as it is one of the most common tools in English learning. This paper employs the use of“A Personalized Movie System for English Learning”to provide the user with an ideal learning environment, and effectively improve the results of learning English. The system records the user’s past learning habits and moves to determine the user’s learning progress to provide the most appropriate learning environment for the user. The subtitles from the movie undergo processing, and provide different kinds of vocabulary words for the user. The selection of vocabulary words involves eliminating those that the user possibly could have already learned. As the user views the subtitle salongside the movie scenes, he or she would understand the context of these new words on a deeper level.
