of Elementary Fourth Graders in Taipei County
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the recorder learning attitudes of the elementary school fourth graders in Taipei County. The learning attitudes included aspects of individuality, teachers, and environments. Nine hundred and twenty-four fourth graders were sampled from 10 elementary schools in Taipei County. The research instrument was a researcher-designed questionnaire, which was Recorder Learning Attitudes Questionnaire. The data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s Correlation.
The findings of this study were the followings:
1. In the aspect of individuality in recorder learning attitudes:
(1) The individuality aspect in recorder learning attitudes showed positive tendency.
(2) The background variables, such as school location, gender, school music experiences, and out-of-school music experiences, had significant influence on recorder learning attitudes.
2. In the aspect of teachers in recorder learning attitudes:
(1) The teachers aspect in recorder learning attitudes had positive tendency.
(2) The background variables showed significant influence on recorder learning attitudes.
3. In the aspect of environments in recorder learning attitudes:
(1) The environments aspect in recorder learning attitudes had positive tendency.
(2) The background variables showed significant influence on recorder learning attitudes.
4. Relationship among individuality, teachers, and environments:
(1) There was significant positive correlation between individuality and teachers in recorder learning attitudes.
(2) There was significant positive correlation between teachers and environments in recorder learning attitudes.
(3) There was significant positive correlation between individuality and environments in recorder learning attitudes.
According to the findings, the researcher proposed recommendations to the educational authorities, school administrators, music teachers, and future research studies.
