In addition, the current study also aimed to (1) find out the relationships between articulation and oral structure and oral motor abilities of children with Down syndrome ; (2) to analyze the relationships between the articulation and phonological awareness of children with Down syndrome ; and (6) to investigate the factors(i.e. cognition, language comprehension ,age that might influence the articulation, oral motor and phonological awareness of children with Down syndrome. The results of this study could be summarized as follws:(1)children with Down Syndrome tended to produce stop and nasal consonants accurately, while fricatives and affricates were often in error.(2)The phonological process of children with Down syndrome were stopping, affrication, unaspiration and fronting.(3)The problems of oral structure of children with Down syndrome were deviant dentition and macroglossia.(4)The articulation and phonological awareness were found to be positively correlated in children with Down syndrome.(5)There was no significant correlation between the articulation and the oral motor abilitites.
