Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立臺南藝術大學 === 應用藝術研究所 === 96 === This paper documents my interactive relationship with “raising.” I first accumulated knowledge and expertise in the field and then went on to experiment with what I had learned and develop my own distinctive methodology and style. As part of this process, my thinking gradually evolved from a focus on the essential character of metal materials to further consideration of how best to balance “raising,” “materials” and “people” in my art. Another focus of this paper is the way in which the “raising” process creates inner spiritual and psychological change, as well as the rhythm, appeal and importance of the striking action. From section seven, chapter two, to the second and third chapters, I discuss changes in the relationship between my ideas and the technical approaches I have adopted, including experiments and discoveries as they apply to each series of work. Finally, I elaborate on experimenting with the use of torch fired enamel and what that taught me, using annotated diagrams to explain how the torch firing of white enamel can result in a wide variety of color and textural changes, depending on such variables as shape, formula and reduction, oxidization and carbon trap effect etc.
