Identification on diversity and the coexistence of diversity have become the golden rules in the development of every field in modern times. This phenomenon presents in the direction and goals of museum development. In terms of city museum, it has become an un-neglected concept when museum tries to interpret city because of the most complex ecological condition and thinking in human population. This paper first collects and organizes background context of modern city museum development and the Kaohsiung City experience in Taiwan region under the globalization. Next, it proceeds with the beginning, development, and features of city museum, and discussion of Taiwan city/local museum development. The second part of the paper focuses on multi-angle context exploration of “identification” itself, intending to demonstrate diverse cultural identification besides ethnic classification and explain the development of identification construction in museum display to ensure the display logic of “identification=process of citizen identification awareness”. Finally, from perspective of local citizens, we attempt to interview on-site and analyze the exhibition in Kaohsiung City Historical Museum in order to present the true features of Kaohsiung City and therefore to examine the co-existent viewpoint in modern society. 江韶瑩 2008 學位論文 ; thesis 139 zh-TW
