Description
Summary:碩士 === 大同大學 === 事業經營學系(所) === 96 === In contrast to the traditional manufacutring activities, in which mass production and scale of economics are the two methods applied to lower the cost, the manufacturing industry these days are meeting a completely different challenging atmosphere, where mass production of single product can no longer meet the customer demand for diversity. On the other hand, the manufacturing industry is urged to respond rapidly to the market while lowering its stock and, in addition to all the above, the industry needs to take care of its cost as well. Over the years, a large number of new manufacturing strategies have been released by scholars, namely, lean production and mass customization among other points of stand, all trying to help making the manufacturing industry become more responsive to the changing market. All these considerations indicated above suggest challenges to the supply chain management. The literature review we have access to show a large number of discussions over the impacts of supply chain management, lean production and mass customization on manufacturing performance of a corporate and are about the impacts of supply chain management on lean production and mass customization. Based on literature review, the framework of this research is established. The research in question is conducted on the top 1,000 Taiwanese manufacturers announced by the Common Wealth Magazine in 2007 through a mailing survey. The analysis of empirical data is conducted on the structural equation modeling, where the factor loadings and path coefficients are used to evaluate the fitness of the best fitting model and to test the hypotheses in this research. The result of this research suggests that supply chain management does support the hypothesis in this research and mean positive impacts on lean production and mass customization. Both the level of lean production and mass customization support the hypothesis in this research and creates positive impacts on manufacturing performance. In this research, we would like to suggest the following to Taiwanese manufacturing industry that opts for either lean production or mass customization: Supply chain management does help upgrade the level of lean production and mass customization and upgrading both the level of lean production and mass customization helps improving manufacturing performance. When it comes to implementing supply chain management, in practice, it is to (1) establish the close relationship with supply chain members; (2) enhance mutual trust with the up and down stream firms; (3) share information with the up and down stream firms and (4) establish consensus on mutual benefits with the up and down stream firms.
