碩士 === 國立雲林科技大學 === 視覺傳達設計系碩士班 === 96 === The story of animation short Mom is not home mainly focus on household safety of children and the parenting of modern father. This short not only discusses how accidents should be avoided, but also concerns about the role of father in parenting at present. The origination of the story derived from the birth of my nephew. Through continually observation of incidents in his everyday life, the creation of motivation and inspiration of the theme occurred. The significant reason of choosing animation to present the story is because of its alternative materials and flexible expression ways. Moreover, the advantage of combination with image and sound will take the effort to pass messages and to have a strong appeal to the audience directly. During the production of the animation, the technique combines with two-dimensional hand drawing on paper and computer graphics with dot matrix brush in Photoshop. At this point, the use of computer graphics will provide multiple layer and the conveniences on coloring and structuring the scenes and the chose of hand drawing will left pencil strokes to enrich details. In terms of scenes and characters design, the short film attempts to generate and to reach the combination of scenery elements with the image of Taiwan and Europe and producing a new visual style with the mixture of different cultural factors. Making an excellent animation short is never an easy job to anyone. In order to complete this work, it took me a long time of very closely observation on the action of the person and numerous excellent examples of animation piece. Concluding the constantly inspection and modification of this work, sincerely hope Mon is not Home will touching and hold the eye of audience.
