The purpose of the research is to probe into the principals’ concept and purport of professional continuing education and the implementation conditions. Taipei City elementary school principals’ attitude toward professional continuing education and the influential factors, as well as their correlation, will also be discussed. Finally, conclusions will be drawn and suggestions will be proposed to serve as reference for relevant departments and personnel when planning principals’ professional continuing education, and will serve as basis for future researches. In order to achieve the research purpose, the literature review in this paper will be the basis in proposing the research framework and research hypothesis. The questionnaire survey method will first be adapted. Then, semi-structured interviews will be conducted to gain an insight. The questionnaire survey is “A Questionnaire Survey for Taipei City Elementary School Principals’ Attitude toward Professional Continuing Education.” In order to enhance the validity of the questionnaire in this paper, 11 experts and researchers were invited to examine and revise the questionnaire content. Frequency distribution and percentage statistics were then conducted based on the opinions for alteration in order to establish “expert validity.” The official questionnaire survey targeted 140 principals of public schools in Taipei City. A total of 137 questionnaires, or 97.9% of the survey samples, are valid copies. In addition to conducting statistical analysis, the open opinions in the collected questionnaires were also classified, analyzed, and expounded. In addition, since the principals’ attitude toward professional continuing education also covers the process of learners’ intrinsic reflections, social interactions, and experience transformation, this process must include semi-structured interviews to research on the microscopic parts. As a result, 8 principals were interviewed. The selection of interviewees, data collection, analysis, interpretation, and discussion were as compliant as possible with the validity and effective indexes of the interview cases. The valid questionnaire samples were then analyzed and compared using descriptive statistics, t-test, One Way ANOVA, and multiple regression analysis. The conclusions drawn include: the principals’ concept and purport of professional continuing education, implementation conditions of elementary school principals’ professional continuing education, Taipei City elementary school principals’ overall response and attitude toward the influential factors of professional continuing education, differences in Taipei City elementary school principals’ attitude toward professional continuing education due to background variances, and differences in influential factors in terms of principals’ attitude toward professional continuing education. Based on the research conclusions, the researcher has proposed constructive suggestions for education administrations, teacher training institutions (or principal training centers), teachers, principals in office, parents, and community residents. Finally, concrete suggestions in terms of research scope, research method, and research subject will be proposed for future researches. 胡夢鯨 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 230 zh-TW
