Description
Summary:碩士 === 中原大學 === 室內設計研究所 === 97 === Public art, as goal of living aesthetics, life quality improvement, field spirit of place, general public involvement and community discussion with users interaction, has long been the major task for art creator and associated implementing organization. Campus is a place for learning and living. Students are more open-minded and critical for accepting any new matter and their level of education are seemingly the same. Teachers could inspire students to interest in art by fabricating or commentating a public art work together. The new genre art is a new trend public art which differs from the traditional and beautified, self represented public art and created social identification and offers discursive thought. It could strength student’s identity for public art and rise the cultural quality of the campus and surrounding environment. This kind of new genre art offers direct contact between students as well as the neighboring residents. On the other hand, it is the most easily accepted by the general public. Therefore, where to place the public art in the campus, how to present a public art and what kind of aesthetics that a public art may represent or attract interaction with users, all of which will directly or indirectly affect whole general public’s identity and acceptance for these new genre public art’s characteristics. This study will be searched through art scholars by fine testing criterion, like experimental, public interactive, public participatory approach, environmental beautification, and art aesthetics, based on the chosen works or public art similar public art works in the campus of Chung Yuan Christian University. The major contents and results for this study are listed below: 1. To discuss the primitive meaning of current new genre of public arts for campus’s culture and art environments. 2. This project acts to contribute in the research program to investigate and observe the 21 pieces of similar public art works in the campus. This project sorts and produces a testing table for campus public art’s interaction. Based on University’s experts and students comments, it selects the most suitable ways of interaction of public art’s works within the campus. We have selected 21 works and beside this, the experts agree that the most works have reached the aim of accessibility and attract users’ or interpreters’ interaction, but not enough expressed the quality of environmental beautification. Only 9 works would have an average quality (50%) based on the criterion of this research.
