Because increase of the user, it is stricter with the Quality of Service (QoS) for multimedia require. The QoS of multimedia usually evaluate by the packet loss, jitter and delay. For the transport protocol, the Transport Control Protocol (TCP) offers reliable transmission, but cause high delay. The User Datagram Protocol (UDP) offers unreliable transmission, but it caused the high packet loss. Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) improves some features of TCP, it provides the features of Multi-streaming, Selective Acknowledge (SACK), etc. that to offer not only the faster transmission, but also lower packet loss and delay. It can offer multimedia more of QoS by SCTP. In this study, the SCTP is used to transmit the multimedia application. MPEG4 compress technology is utilized to class the package of multimedia into different parts in accordance with its features in this study. However, the Data Chunk of SCTP is used to classify the Chunk in accordance with reserved bit. Then, we can know the loss situation of more important frames by the feature of SACK from SCTP, and retransmit its. After that, Using the feature of SACK is analyzed and computed from SCTP and the information that offered by the SACK to examine the packet loss and analyze the disperse degree of packet loss. Finally, it can promote the QoS of the multimedia by the retransmission chunk that is decided by the retransmission mechanism.
