The purposes of the study are to discuss: 1) the applicability of music activities to integrate with the animated picture book teaching; 2) the effect of the study on enhancing the expressive language competence of children with developmental delay;3) the effects of the music activities on promotion of music ability and improvement of interpersonal relationship of the children. The research duration was 20 weeks, with two classes per week and 30~40 minutes per session. The methodology was based on case studies. The data were collected by text-based qualitative research. The language performance tests of testee were taken before, after and during the weekly music activities, and converted into quantitative data. Upon the completion of this research, a cross comparison of the progress prior and post the language competence test was conducted by the text-based qualitative analysis, supplemented with the statistically quantitative data in order to obtain a full picture of the testee’s performance. The research results are described as follows: 1. After having undergone this teaching research, two subjects showed improved attention, memory and oral ability. The result of social validity also supported this finding. Therefore, music activities integrated with teaching using an animated picture book is a positive and effective curriculum. 2. Animated picture books, music activities including music games, song teaching and learning, rhyme chanting, music appreciation and relaxation can enhance the language comprehension and expression ability of young children. Therefore, this research is beneficial for young children’s language development. 3. The children are more reactive to the sounds of music instruments and make progress in pitch and rhythm by imitating singing and clapping beats. The children develop relationship skills and actively make friends and help peers. Ling-yu Lee 李玲玉 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 150 zh-TW
