To improve after-sales service is one of the key ways to upgrade the competitiveness. The introduce of M2M (Machine-to-Machine) technology system into the after-sales service is one possible way to improve after-sales service. However, while such M2M system will cost a lot of money, it is not affordable by most companies in the industry. A government funded, shared M2M based service platform can solve these problems. The main purpose of this study is to examine the required functional modules and their detailed contends of this M2M after-service common platform. First, the typical after-sales service processes of Taiwan''s machine tools industry are detailed. By interviewing key members from the industry, nine typical form of after-sales service processes are obtained. On the other hand, the possible function modules of the M2M after-service common platform are obtained from system providers. Then we combine the after-sales service processes into the M 2M after-service common platform in order to summarize how the M2M after-service common platform can affect each form of after-sales service processes.
