It aims to understand parents’ viewpoints and attitudes regarding the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy” and the ways to effectively put the policy into practice. This research used the self-designed ‘Questionnaire. The samples were 1107 parents of students in Shengang Elementary School. The data were analyzed with the SPSS for Windows 12.0 for descriptive statistics, item analysis, factor analysis, t-test, One-way ANOVA, Product-moment Correlation, and Stepwise Multiple Regression Analysis. Based on the findings, the conclusions are as follows: 1. Among the parenting styles, “independent and equal trainings” are more frequently applied than “authoritative and dependent trainings”. 2. The current situation of the awareness of the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy” (1) Corporal punishment, humiliating punishment and physical trainings are considered as corporal punishments by parents. (2) Most parents are still opposed to the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”. (3) After the practice of the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”, most parents still believe that teachers should carry out appropriate corporal punishment when their children make mistakes. 3. The differences between the influences of different family backgrounds on parenting styles and the awareness of the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”: (1) Parenting styles are related to the following variables: parents’ age, title, education levels and family pattern. (2) Parents’ satisfaction with the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy” is related to their age. (3) There is no relationship between parents’ reactions to teachers’ discipline attitudes and variables, such as family backgrounds. 4. The relationships between parenting styles and the awareness of the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”: (1) The parenting style of “independent and equal trainings” has a highly positive correlation with the awareness and satisfaction regarding corporal punishment types. (2) The parenting style of “authoritative and dependent trainings” has a highly positive correlation with the response to the opposing of the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy” and teachers’ discipline attitudes. 5. The analysis with regards to the prediction of family backgrounds, parenting styles and attitudes towards the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy” of the awareness of the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”: (1) The family backgrounds of parents with the attitudes towards the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”: “approval-objection”, the parenting styles: “independent and equal trainings”, “authoritative and dependent trainings” and genders: “male-female” can serve as a reference for the prediction of the awareness of corporal punishment types. (2) The family backgrounds of parents with “more than 3 children” can serve as a reference for the prediction of the approval attitudes towards the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”. (3) The family backgrounds of parents with the attitudes towards the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”: “approval-objection”, parenting styles: “independent and equal trainings”, education level: “high school and under”, age: “31-40 years old-under 30 years old” can serve as a reference for the prediction of ‘parents’ satisfaction with the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”’. (4) The family backgrounds of parents with the attitudes towards the “Zero Corporal Punishment Educational Policy”: “approval-objection”, education level: “high school and under”, family pattern: “small families-families with three generations”, parenting styles: “independent and equal trainings”, age: “over 41 years old-under 30 years old” can serve as a reference for the prediction of “parents’ responses to teachers’ discipline attitudes”. Concrete suggestions are provided as references for parents, teachers, education institutions and future studies.
