| Summary: | 碩士 === 逢甲大學 === 歷史與文物管理所 === 97 === This thesis explained how “The phenomenon of Fu, Pei-Mei” happened and how it influenced the society of Taiwan. Technology innovated and Disposable Income increased formed the phenomenon of Fu, Pei-Mei. All kinds of household appliances changed users’ daily life. Such as television replaced ancestry altar became the spotlight of the living room. Therefore, Professor Chou, Liang-Kai named it “Living Room Revolution”. Then, “Kitchen Revolution” meant tradition Chinese stove had been replaced by electric rice cooker and gas stove.
Base on my interviews at Xitun district, Taichung City, interviewee had two motivations to purchase household appliances. One was the needed of saving time, the other was honored the owner of household appliances. The priority of purchased was based on those and Disposable Income.
Fu, Pei-Mei was the first host of cooking shows at Taiwan Television Enterprise, Ltd.. She made recipes for people who learned cooking by TV. That changed cooking into Explicit Knowledge. By the power of media, Fu, Pei-Mei became a success business woman. Her shows created high Program Rating. That made TV station willing to produce more new cooking shows. And lots of people learned how to cook by Fu, Pei-Mei cooking shows. Those influences Professor Chou, Liang-Kai named them “The phenomenon of Fu, Pei-Mei”.
