Description
Summary:碩士 === 輔仁大學 === 織品服裝學系 === 97 === The purpose of this research was to investigate junior high school female teachers’ self image and clothing style preference as well as the relation of the two variables. Suggestions according to the findings of the study were made to help teachers and people to understand the role of teacher more deeply and meanwhile, to provide recommendations for teacher education and in-service training. The foundation of this research was based on the review of literature from related studies. A questionnaire was developed to collect data from one junior high school in Taipei County. The amounts of the research participants were 145, including formal and substitute female teachers, then the data was analyzed by SPSS. The findings of this research indicated that the teacher self image of female teachers in junior high school tended to be positive. To certain extend, there were significant differences in teacher self image for female teachers who were in different conditions including age group, level of education, teacher education institutes, formal or substitute teacher, position or job in school, seniority of teaching, and the major teaching subject. At the same time, there were differences in clothing style preferences for female teachers of different ages, marital status and seniority of teaching to some level. Further, there were partially positive correlations between the self image of female teachers and the four clothing style preferences which were defined as romantic, sexy, conventional/traditional and elegant. Finally, age was the main factor that influenced the teacher self image and clothing style preferences of female teachers in junior high school. For future researches, it was recommended to increase the amount and regions of samples, and to investigate the view of who are significant to female teachers. Meanwhile, adding new variables, such as more clothing details (e.g., colors and textures) or overall personal image style, were also recommended for further studies. In addition, qualitative research was suggested to adopt in studies concerning this topic in the future.
