Summary:碩士 === 義守大學 === 電子工程學系碩士班 === 97 === Currently, LED has been widely used for monitor display, illumination device, notebook, etc. So it plays an important role in our daily life. Moreover, LED lights can replace household light bulks is the trend of the future. It has been developed a variety of LED driver IC for many companies. Most of them use pulse width modulation (PWM) to control LED. This study presents Sigma-Delta (ΣΔ) modulation to design System-on-Chip of full color LED display by using ProASIC3 FPGA (Actel corp.). This paper uses simulink is to simulate first-order of the ΣΔ modulation, and to simplify the architecture in order to cost down for the circuit. Also, different between PWM and ΣΔ modulation would be discussed. Finally, this paper presents LED dimming control of PWM and ΣΔ modulation for IC by using RS232 as interface of computer control and hardware.
