Description
Summary:碩士 === 高雄醫學大學 === 牙醫學研究所 === 97 === The esthetic is one of important attribute in denture success and failure. One of the difficult aspects of complete denture prosthodontics is the selection of appropriately sized maxillary anterior teeth. The aim of this investigation was to evaluate whether relationships exists between the intercanthal dimension and intercanine distance, combined width of the six anterior teeth and distance between the distal surfaces of the upper canines or between the interalar width and intercanine distance, combined width of the six anterior teeth and distance between the distal surfaces of the upper canines. Besides, determine which one is the best. 93 samples was included in the study. The intercanthal dimension and interalar width was measured. Individual upper arch cast was collected and intercanine distance, combined width of the six anterior teeth and distance between the distal surfaces of the upper canines was measured on the cast. Although significant relationships existed between intercanthal dimension and intercanine distance, combined width of the six anterior teeth and distance between the distal surfaces of the upper canines (P<0.05); between interalar width and intercanine distance and distance between the distal surfaces of the upper canines (P<0.05) , the Pearson correlation coefficients were relatively small. The intercanthal dimension is better than the interalar width for selection of upper anterior teeth. Within the limitations of this study, the results suggest that intercanthal distance can be used as a preliminary method for determining the width of the maxillary anterior teeth for edentulous patients.
