Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立高雄應用科技大學 === 光電與通訊研究所 === 97 === The phased array antennas takes advantages of improving data capacity and communication quality, and has been highly applied to smart antenna systems of base stations in recent years. The drawbacks of phased array antennas are complicated circuit structure, huge dimension, and costly. This thesis proposed a novel design based on Butler matrix topology and multi-layers substrate technique, and the design has been fabricated in 4×4 and 8×8 beam-forming networks. Comparing with the conventional design, the novel one are very compact size and easy to be designed because of double sides structure and without any 0dB crossover. Owing to using etching method and FR4 substrate material, and without any switch component, variable phase shifter or controlled circuit, it is very simple to be manufactured and low cost. According to measurement result, the novel design has better power divided capability and phase shift accuracy then conventional one. Linking with the 4×1 and 8×1 array antennas, the measured patterns show good performance in average gain, side lobe level, main lobe direction, and average half power beam width, achieving the goal that realizing the phased array antennas with microstrip structure.
