Description
Summary:碩士 === 嶺東科技大學 === 視覺傳達設計研究所 === 97 === “Image” is a borderless and gapless common language. Through rapid changes in time and the environment, there is an increasing reliance on images in daily life; the expression of illustration is not only unrestrained by time, space and the law, it also reflects reality as well as the realization of dreams. Illustration is also able to visualize the inner meaning of the human heart; this kind of abstract, uncertain depiction is precisely the unique appeal of images. Women are endowed with a diverse and an ever-changing psychology; they reveal a certain characteristic unique to women. Behind the ever-evolving feminine image is feminists’ lengthy history of revolution; today’s discussions on feminine issues and the birth of feminine characteristics originate from relentless fighting and protesting, which rewrote the history of women. Today’s women have departed from characteristics such as sweet, gentle, cowardly and soft that were associated with women during the era of male dominant culture; instead, modern women have become confident, intelligent, outspoken and rebellious. What we observe from modern women is that in addition to carrying out the virtue of women endowed upon them by God, they have the right to decide how they present themselves to the public. From applications in contemporary art, print media and merchandise design, one can discover that creations based on feminine form or feminine characteristics are not only prevalent in our surrounding environment, they are also used in all aspects of our lifestyle. In terms of visual design, Chin-Chieh Li (1997) suggested that illustration is perceived as a representation of “personal style”, in other words, the artist is able to discover the inner self through work and the process of creation. This research bases its creative concept on the discovery of feminine characteristics; in addition to examining the prejudice and neglect suffered by women during the existence of traditional social structure, the study also probes into feminism and feminine characteristics. The feminist perspective and artistic creation are then combined, and through feminine characteristics as the creative strategy, attempts are made to reinterpret the uniqueness of the female sex. Therefore, through the researcher’s self-transformation during the various stages of growing up, and through techniques such as empathy and metaphor, image creations are combined with various visual elements; the intention is to emphasize the importance of feminine characteristics. Via a brand new feminine consciousness and attitude, an art exclusive to women is created.
