Description
Summary:碩士 === 立德大學 === 資訊傳播研究所 === 97 === Personalized fonts are receiving more and more attention because people nowadays are stressing on the uniqueness of the new trend, and the purpose of this study is to try to propose a method that can break down a handful hand-written typefaces by an individual person into characters and then, by way of the combination of the characters, design and make a large number of personalized fonts to satisfy the needs for typefaces that can represent the personality characteristics of a person. This study uses my hand-written Return to My Lodge in Wang Chuan by Wang Wei, one of the famous poets in Tang Dynasty, as example. This poetry contains 46 words, including a word that appears twice, and the typefaces have been broken down into many chunks of characters. First, these typefaces are combined again without changing their sizes and appearances, and 41 new words that are frequently used are generated, and together with the 42 frequently used words in this poem, only 83 frequently used words are generated. In addition, if the sizes, appearances, lengths and widths of these characters can be changed randomly, 59 frequently used words can be generated. After reorganization of the characters of these 59 words, 529 frequently used words can be generated. Consequently, by way of this method, 630 frequently used words, including the 42 frequently used words in this poem, can be made. In other words, 14 times amounts of personalized typefaces can be derived from those 45 words (excluding the duplicated one) in Wang Wei’s poem. This indicates the method proposed by this study is a feasible way capable of realizing the personalized fonts. In the future, with the extension of this study, a handful of personalized typefaces can be used to break down the typefaces into chunks of characters, and with the change of the sizes, appearances, lengths and widths of the characters, we can generate 4808 frequently used words, which are also the words defined by the Ministry of Education, to achieve a complete design system of personalized fonts.
