Questionnaire of residents' sense of community and their perception of community building was constructed according to related literatures. The 1400 questionnaires were issued. The total number of usable questionnaires returned was 834, resulting overall 60% survey response rate. The data was analyzed through descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s Correlation and Regression Analysis. The research findings indicated: 1. There are significant differences in residents' sense of community between Pu-Nan Community and Pu-Yen Community. Residents' sense of community in Pu-Nan Community is higher than the one in Pu-Yen Community. 2. There are significant differences in residents' perception of community building between Pu-Nan Community and Pu-Yen Community. The residents' perception of community building in Pu-Nan Community is better than the one in Pu-Yen Community. 3. Residents' sense of community in both communities has significant differences across several social demographic variables, which include occupation, education, marital status, if there are children with age below 18 in the household, workplace and if one holds an official position in the community self-governance organization. 4. Residents' perception of community building in both communities has significant differences across several demographic variables, which include education, personal income, length of living in the community, and if one holds an official position in the community self-governance organization. 5. There is a positive correlation between residents’ sense of community and their perception of community building in both communities. Pu-Nan Community has a stronger correlation between two variables than Pu-Yen Community does. 6. As for regression analysis, the length of residency is a predictor for residents' sense of community and their perception of community building in both communities. Based on these research findings, the author offers several related suggestions to the policy makers and to community self-governance organization. Shu-Fen Kao 高淑芬 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 12 zh-TW |
