碩士 === 銘傳大學 === 應用中國文學系碩士在職專班 === 97 === The research scope of this study focuses on the two novels (Sui Yuan, Go With The Flow) and(Yin Yuan Lu, Road of Marriage) written by Jian Xiao-Yun. By adopting narrative structural and esthetic of fiction analysis methodologies, this essay examines Jian''s writing style and the success of her fiction writing by ways of her writing characteristics and the artistic technique. Jian is a renowned guixiu wenxue (lady/maiden literature) writer, she delicately portrays the female inner feelings, as well as the conundrum faced by both man and woman in love affairs and marriage, through her keen observation and witty sarcasm. Her in-depth description brings out the unusual connotation in the usual subjects, displays vividly the perspective of marriage and the attitude in dealing with emotions of modern women. The study focuses on the narrative style and technique of Jian''s writing, to analyze the plot setting technique, the personae portrayal manipulation, and the set environment description. While including Jian''s themes, the study finds that, although Jian''s fictions mainly focus on the subjects of love affair and marriage, her attention to the society as well as her concern and care to the living condition of the lower class are also vastly contained. Finally, the study finds and reflection of Jian''s techniques in the art of fiction are concluded from the above said research results.
