Description
Summary:碩士 === 美和技術學院 === 健康照護研究所 === 97 === The purpose of this study was to investigate the associations between health-related indicators and quality of life among a group of middle-aged and elders participated in a community-exercise intervention program. Using a quasi-experiment design, a group of non-regular exercise subjects were recruited. Subjects were divided into: (1) the experimental group (exercise-walking intervention group); and (2) the control group (the group that did not participate in the exercise-walking). Data collection was completed in a period of 36 weeks (from August 24, 2007 through May 31, 2008). SPSS version 13.0 statistical software were used for statistical analysis. After 9 weeks of exercise-walking intervention, among participants in the experimental group, their waist circumference, weight, body mass index, systolic blood pressure, fasting blood glucose, triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol of the experimental group have been reduced significantly. No significant changes were found for the control group. The mixed-design two-way ANOVA showed that after the intervention, the body weight, body mass index, and triglyceride in the experimental group indeed showed a significant improvement. After 36 weeks of exercise-walking intervention, the low-density lipoprotein cholesterol of the experimental group has significant. The mixed-design two-way ANOVA showed that, after the intervention, the measures of lipoprotein cholesterol in the experimental group showed a significant improvement in both the experimental group and control group. In terms of changes in the physical and psychological dimension of the quality of life after the exercise intervention, it was found that the score of the experimental group quality of life after the exercise-walking intervention was higher than before. For the measure of Social Function a significant improvement was also observed. For The mixed-design two-way ANOVA showed the psychological dimension Mental Health (MCS), Vitality, Social Function , has interaction, after simple main effect test it was found that after the exercise intervention, the score of quality of life the experimental group’s has positive improvement. We concluded that 36 weeks of community exercise-walking intervention can effectively improve the health related indicators and quality of life of the middle-aged and elderly in the community.
