Especially for areas sensitive to noise, enhanced metal sound barriers were further provided. However, many residents still keep complaining about the noise, indicating that the noise problem along THSR is an emergent issue to be investigated. This study assesses the noise impacts along THSR, and evaluates the robustness of the noise reduction strategies and control regulations. Taya Township of Taichung Country is employed as the study area. Based on the experience of Japanese Shinkansen noise and vibration control zones, the investigation range used in this study is within 200 meters along both sides of the THSR. The results of this study show that when the trains pass by, the LAmax has greater impacts on upstairs residents, and the noise may increase over 20dB(A) than background noise level. The errors of the simulation results of SoundPlan are all less than 3dB(A), which is qualified for noise simulation, and is more accurate than Cadna-A. The simulation results of SoundPlan indicate that when the number of one-way scheduled trains is over 8 trains/hour, the noise will result in serious influence to residents if 1.25m-high metal sound barriers were not installed. According to the questionnaire analysis, areas within 100m away from the track are regarded as seriously noisy district, and the noise-exposed population is about 1,227 to 1,528. The results also reveal that the LAmax of THSR had better retain 70dB(A) to maintain acceptable noise levels for the residents. 林明德 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 99 zh-TW
