Summary:碩士 === 國立中興大學 === 電機工程學系所 === 97 === Iris recognition is a biometric identification technology which has received increasing attention due to its high performance on human identification. A challenge of iris recognition is to extract the small-size data with sufficient information from distinctive iris patterns. In this thesis, we use Gabor filters to extract iris features and develop an effective encoding method. The proposed iris code is generated by analyzing and encoding the horizontal variation of each filtered image. In the feature selection algorithm, a sequential forward floating search(SFFS)scheme is adopted to remove redundant features to reduce the data size and improve the performance. Finally, the Gabor filter in the iris recognition system is designed using verilog HDL(Hardware Description Language)and then implemented on an FPGA(File Programmable Gate Array)using XILINX ISE 8.1i.
