After graduating from the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication of Fu Jen Catholic University, he began to learn Chinese literature. He earned his Doctor degree in National Central University, and is now an associate professor of Chinese literature at National Dong Hwa University. Dr. Wu is a famous contemporary nature writer. He has published books including "No Work Today", "Tiger God", "Obsession with Butterflies", "Routes for Butterflies", "The Garden of Eden in Taipei", "So Much Water So Close to Home", "Travel Routes of Dreams", and more. The focus of this paper is on Dr. Wu''s nature writing. In addition, Dr. Wu''s characteristic and his position in nature writing in Taiwan will be discussed. The paper will begin with Dr. Wu''s biography and his background in nature writing. In this paper, I will analyze the development of the trend of the contemporary nature writing in Taiwan. Besides, I will elaborate Dr. Wu''s definition of nature writing. This paper examines content and characteristic of Dr. Wu''s ecology articles. I will discuss the unique subjects in Dr. Wu''s writing, such as butterflies, insects, water, and so on. Dr. Wu''s observation in his nature articles will also be discussed. And we will look at the motivation and characteristic of Dr. Wu''s creative writing. We will explore his arrangement of ideas and his rich implications. The beauty of art in Dr. Wu''s environmental writing is another key point in this paper. Dr. Wu''s intention toward land aesthetic will be clarified. Furthermore, the artistic technique found in his ecology articles relating to natural ecology and environmental protection will be examined. The butterfly imaginary in his writings will be discussed. At last, Dr. Wu''s ideas toward environmental protection and his care for the environmental ethics and land ecology will be evaluated. This paper is mainly concerned with Dr. Wu''s creative works related to nature writing. The related creative writing ideas and the concept of environment protection can also be found in his works which are not related to nature writing.
