On the basis of increasing requirements of network control and digitized family together with cost reduction of electronic components, the market of digital home control product has come up. Besides, the corresponded new developed product has a trend of integral multi-functions. In this study, customer’s need, requirement and emphasis on the integral function of digital-home–network-control terminal product is investigated first. The theory of ‘Quality Function Deployment (QFD)’ is applied subsequently for finding the design orientation of digital-home–network-control terminal product which includes Voice Of Customer (VOC). In the furious competing of market, the product development tasks become much more important for the reason that technology varied soon, product lifetime shortened, and market expanded worldwide. However, the new product development is a series of organized and tightly correlated important activities. Therefore, in face of the fast varying competing environment, the task of new product development not only considers the technology but also includes the contents of target customer, market benefit, attribution function and customer requirement. Which means it must have a systematically global plan for the function design and orientation of new product development. In this study, the ‘Quality Function Deployment (QFD)’ theory and ‘Kano two-dimension quality model’ are applied for investigating the quality function compositions and analyzing customer’s view point of Kano quality. Furthermore, the effective quality factor for improving product orientation is confirmed by the addition of satisfaction and importance indexes of quality-function factors. A product design orientation procedure is also built based on customer’s expectation and product competing factor. In the beginning, twelve quality compositions are extracted from international experts’ quality researches on the digital-home-network-control terminal product. Then, with questionnaire survey, the importance of customer’s expectation of quality compositions is recognized. By question pair of Kano questionnaire (one positive and one negative), the quality compositions of digital-home-network-control terminal product are classified into Kano quality factors. Meanwhile, the different viewpoint of the customer attribution on the quality compositions is compared. Finally, the Kano model and QFD methods are integrated, in order to develop the design orientation of digital-home-network-control terminal product. The discussion points and results are as followings: 1. Classifying the quality composition of digital-home-network-control terminalproduct by Kano quality factor. The function of ‘far field controlled light’is thecharming quality for new product competency of enterprise. 2. Comparing the difference of viewpoints of each customer attribution on the quality compositions of the digital-home-network-control terminal product, in order to understand the requirement of different target customer. 3. Customer’s viewpoints on the importance of quality composition of digital- home-network-control terminal product are sorted as‘far field controlled light’, ‘burglarproof and precaution’, ‘network monitor’and ‘visitor image conversation’. 4. Integrating Kano model and QFD methods, and converting customer requirement to an efficiency matrix for design and development of digital-home- network-control terminal product with consideration of high satisfactory and importance index. As a final conclusion, with the combination of company’s R&D capability, the new patent was submitted to Ministry of Economic Affairs and received a new Chinese patent license. Hope that the enterpise not yields to the tide of digital world, but finding company’s future benefit point, based on the current technology and by the sharp marketing observation and customer required product design orientation, as an early preparation for delevloping products coped with market trend.
