Gussasphalt, a paving material used on the steel bridge deck, it be used in Germany and Japan generally. When heated to high temperatures, Gussasphalt is a pourable bitumen mastic, it can be bond to the steel deck to provide composite action and prevent the steel deck contacted water. The strength of Gussasphalt is mainly provided by mastic which compose of binder and filler, because the asphalt and filler content of Gussasphalt is more than generally asphalt concrete, and binders used can include conventional asphalt, Trinidad Lake asphalt (T.L.A.). The study is discussed and analyzed the mastic properties in Gussasphalt. The test items include soften point test, viscosity test, dynamic shear rheometer(DSR) test, toughness test , Scanning Eletron Miroscope(SEM) observation, and Energy Dispersive Spectrometer(EDS) element analysis. The obtained results show adding T.L.A. and filler in mastic and aging may increase mastic stiffness, but the influence of aging in phase angle is more obvious than the influence of adding T.L.A. and filler to the mastic. The mastic properties of AR8000 mixing T.L.A. and pen20/40 mixing T.L.A. is different. Build the rheometer aging master curve of mastic could reduce the test times.
