In order to have good ideas, it is necessary to eliminate the interference in sketching process. Through it, designer can sketch smoothly and have flexible thinking spaces. This study was based on the creation of intuition. We developed the “Tangible User Interface” (TUI) of digital pen with visual corresponding interface for sketching stage, and then discussed the principles and feasibility of developing sketching system. First, this study investigated current digital sketching system users. According to discussing with designers, we defined the corresponding control mechanism of digital sketching system in developing sketching process. Second, system performance was verified by experiments. Also, we looked for system design specifications and the correcting directions. At the same time, the subjective feelings of participants were deeply considered. Finally, the system performance was verified and the participants were asked to complete the subjective scale to record the user evaluation. The experiment result showed that the TUI sketching system performance was superior to Graphical User Interface (GUI) sketching system. The main reasons were decreasing the time of moving, visual searching, transferring, re-definition of functions, and intuitive control setting. On the other hand, the result of participants’ subjective scales indicated that the TUI sketching system was more recognizable, intuitive, and could be rapidly controlled than GUI. Therefore, it illustrated the feasibility to use TUI sketching system in the design concept developing stage.
