Due to the financial, time and environmental constraints, researchers generally evaluate the performance of their proposed spatial query processing algorithms through computer simulations. However, existing wireless sensor network simulation software is focused only on developing the communication protocols for wireless sensor networks, the hardware activity of sensors and the application-specific deployment environments. They are unable to support the simulation of spatial query processing algorithms directly. Therefore, in this paper, we design and implement a set of wireless sensor network simulation software to support spatial query processing algorithms. Different from other simulation software, our proposed simulation software features an intuitive and friendly graphical user interface, which relieves users of laborious and tedious coding tasks in environment setting. With a series of simple configurations, our proposed simulation software can generate the corresponding codes for the specified wireless sensor network environment so that users are allowed to concentrate their attention and efforts on the development and improvement of spatial query processing algorithms. In processing the simulation experiments, our simulation software visualizes the overall system operation, and allows users to instantly monitor any changes in the parameters of sensor nodes. At the end of the simulation, a thorough historical record of the experiment will be produced and stored for statistical purposes.
