Chapter one is the introduction, which is divided into four parts: the research motive, the research range, the research approach, and then briefly describes the development of Chang Da-chun’s writing in others’studies. Due to the fact that Chang Da-Chun grew up in the military dependent’s village, before discussing his works, chapter two attempts to confirm the definition of dispersion, and tries to distinguish the origin of the thinking about dispersion in the literature of military dependent’s villages. Furthermore, the experience of those writers from military dependent’s family will be discussed as well. As a writer, Chang Da-chun is famous for a series of 「lies」in his novels, therefore, chapter three analyzes how he looks for his own cultural roots through telling lies in those works. After talking about 「lies」, the main concern turns to be「exile」and「return」. Chang Da-chun often depicts heroes escape by using martial art, but in the real world, heroes don’t exist. Similarly, the oriental intellectuals try to get rid of tradition by jumping into the western civilization, but return to their original trials in the end. Finally, we can see Chang Da-chun shows his anxiety on cultural identity through the sarcasm towards the nativism and native political power, it’s clear that he is alienated from Taiwan society. By tracing back to his own family history, and digging into the history which belongs to his father’s generation, Chang Da-chun persists in his cultural identity, but, at the same time, he also opens a new vision for the military dependent’s families.
