Government agencies can save time and budget whenever procurement extension is possible. However, statistics show that most government agencies do not embrace this innovative procurement model. Apparently, the few, who do choose to adopt this model, face the risk of mismanagement and resistance from front-line public servants. According to government statistics, after the promulgation of Government Procurement Law, the total number of procurement cases is 1,657,643, but only 14,907 of them adopt procurement extension. Most disappointingly, no study has ever been done with regard to the lessons learned in promoting procurement extension. This confirms the agencies’ negative view towards this innovation procurement model- the accumulation of experience is stagnant or even non-existent. This work aims at examining real-life procurement extension cases, and tries to extract lessons learned from them. This work conducts interviews and develops case study which contains various field experiences related to the promotion of procurement extension. The outcome of this work may be used as training material upon government agencies and has to potential to facilitate a wider adoption of the procurement extension model.
