The study adopted survey method. Participants were 664 boys and girls from junior high school in Taichung city. The descriptive statistics, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s product-moment correlation and multiple regression analysis were adopted to analyze the data. The findings of the study indicated that junior high school students had higher ability in the level of interpersonal communication skill, higher degree of media influence agreement and appearance orientation. Several significant differences emerged. Girls had higher interpersonal intelligence and media influence than boys. Boys had higher body image than girls. Junior high school students in grade 3 had higher media influence and lower body image than in grade l. The BMI under-weighted students had highest appearance evaluation and lowest overweight preoccupation than others. Low socioeconomic status (SES) students had higher media influence and lower body image than high SES students. Also, there was a significant positive correlation between interpersonal intelligence and media influence, and between media influence and body image. Finally, body image of junior high school students could be predicted by the variables of interpersonal intelligence and media influence.
