So how to promote regulation of sympathetic nerve and parasympathetic nerve that preventing physiological hurt from ageing and disease is important. Regular exercise train was pointed out that is helpful in reduces the sympathetic nervous activity, increase parasympathetic nervous activity, and improve autonomic nervous function to become balance. Tai Chi Chuan is one of a traditional Chinese martial art, many studies focus on health effect of Tai Chi Chuan more than martial art, and Tai Chi Chuan is a popular exercise all around the world. The objective of this study was to confer the effect of single bout Tai Chi exercise on regulation of autonomic nerve. Twenty-four subjects (aged 59.04 ± 8.64) was accepted Tai Chi Chuan train more than 3 month, measured autonomic nervous activity before and after Tai Chi Chuan exercise (0, 30 and 60 minutes) by non-invasive Heart rate variability (HRV) and Meridian Electroacupuncture Analysis Device (MEAD). The result shows, compare with before Tai Chi Chuan exercise, after Tai Chi Chuan exercise 0 minute decrease Mean(RRI)、SDNN、RMSSD、NN50、pNN50、HF power and HF norm significantly (p < 0.05), increase LF norm and LF/HF significantly (p < 0.05). After Tai Chi Chuan exercise 30 and 60 minutes, the autonomic nervous activity return to before Tai Chi Chuan exercise. When doing Tai Chi Chuan exercise, sympathetic nervous activity increase and heart rate speed up. When stopping exercise, physiological state is relax, so parasympathetic nervous activity increase gradually, to make sympathetic nerve and parasympathetic nerve return to beginning. Single bout Tai Chi exercise can improve the regulation of autonomic nervous activity, that is effective in prevent ageing and disease. So Tai Chi exercise is a good health exercise for middle age and elderly people. Be-Jen Wang 王璧娟 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 108 zh-TW
