碩士 === 國立東華大學 === 觀光暨遊憩管理研究所 === 97 === This research examines Kaohsiung residents’ leisure styles, leisure meanings and frequencies of leisure activities. The purposive sampling method was applied to avoid the influence of gender, age and residence factors and to sample averagely. Results show that Kaohsiung people participate most frequently in easy and indoor leisure activities and least frequently in athletic and outdoor activities. Futher, their leisure meanings can be generalized as four main factors: escaping pressure, achieving fulfillment, passing time, and exercising choice. With Cluster Analysis, there are five types of leisure styles based on preference of leisure activties, involving traveling style, consuming style, eletrict technology style, athletic style, and passive style. This research indicates that leisure meanings do not vary significantly across different types of leisure styles, but leisure styles vary with certain social-demographic factors.
