More specifically, the four main purposes of this study were as follows: 1.To understand the level of role stress, burnout and social support of the social workers. 2.To explore the influence of role stress on the social worker’s burnout. 3.To explore the influence of social support on the social worker’s role stress and burnout. 4.To explore the buffering effect of social support on the social worker’s role stress and burnout. Literature analysis and questionnaire survey were the research methods. Social workers in Taoyuan county government, Hsinchu county government, Hsinchu city government and county government in Miaoli were the research participants. After 187 questionnaires were delivered, 173 questionnaires were returned from the recipients. The response rate was 91.44%. The survey data were analyzed by the SPSS12.0 statistical software and mean, standard deviation, one-way ANOVA, t–test, cronbach’s α, reliability analysis, factor analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, regression analysis to examine the hypotheses. The main results were as follows: 1.The level of the social worker’s role stress was above the average. 2.The level of the social worker’s burnout was under the average. 3.The level of the social worker’s social support was above the average. 4.Role stress of the social worker's could have a positive impact on their burnout, and the social worker's social support could have a nagetive impact on their burnout and role stress. 5.The social worker’s social support didn’t buffer the influence of role stress on bournout.
