Exploring the differences of the attitudes toward arts of new immigrant children within different background. 4. To understand the situation of art learning of new immigrant children. 5. Exploring the attitudes toward arts of new immigrant women to their children. 6. According to the results, to make some suggestions to art education. This study was conducted by both questionnaire survey and interview. The main subjects were graded 5th to 6th of elementary school students in Chung-Her city of Taipei county. The instrument of this study was “Questionnaire of New Immigrant Children Attitudes toward Arts”. The collected data of this study was analyzed by descriptive statistics, χ² test, t-test, and one-way ANOVA. We have interviewed thirty new immigrant children and four new immigrant women. The results of this study are in the following: 1. The attitudes toward arts of new immigrant children mainly possessed positive tendency, but not strong enough. Among all layers, the most constructive is “the attitude toward multi-culture art”. The order are following:“the attitude toward art creation and appreciation”, “the attitude toward art value” ,and “the attitude toward art practice in live”. 2. There is no significant variation between new immigrant children and local children in the attitudes toward arts. 3. The differences of the attitudes toward arts of new immigrant children within different background. (1)There is significant variation in the attitudes toward arts between gender of new immigrant children, and the attitudes toward arts of females are higher than males. (2)There is no significant variation in the differences of social and economical level, the number of visit art activities, the parents compare with while visiting art activities, join extracurricular classes of art, go abroad for a travel, and go abroad for visiting with their relatives. 4. The results of interviews to new immigrant children of their art learning (1)The most of new immigrant children love art classes, and about half of them feels art classes are very important. (2)The amount of new immigrant children whose attitudes of art learning are good, even or bad are very close. (3)The most of new immigrant children feel learn a lot in the art classes, and art classes are helpful in their lifetime. (4)The most of new immigrant children love to take participate in art activities. Owning to the work style of new immigrant parents, they couldn’t take part in them often. (5)The new immigrant children never join extracurricular classes of art because their family couldn’t affordable. 5. The new immigrant women’ viewpoints of the attitudes toward arts for their children are (1)The new immigrant women think the subjects to enter a better school are more important than arts and humanities. (2)The new immigrant women couldn’t let their children enter extracurricular classes of art because of can’t afford in their family. If they could afford, the new immigrant women hope their children can enter them. (3)Almost of new immigrant parents work in a shift system. They work in longer time, so they don’t have time to take their children to enter exhibition of arts. Base on the results, this study proposes some suggestions to school, government organization, new immigrant parents, and further study.
