Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立新竹教育大學 === 資訊科學研究所 === 97 === Along with wireless network’s vigorous development, the transmission range and bandwidth of IEEE 802.11 (WLAN), which used to have a large number of users, is now becoming unable to meet the requirements of numerous services gradually. Therefore, the next-generation wireless network, IEEE 802.16 (WiMAX) was thus born. It has the following characteristics: (1) it can simultaneously provide different kinds of quality of service (QoS); (2) it can provide high bandwidth data rate; (3) it can cover a wider range of area; (4) the cost of establishment and management is low; (5) it has “the last mile” characteristics. Based on the above attractive characteristics, this paper discusses the following two issues: (1) how to integrate IEEE 802.16 with IEEE 802.11 to create an integrated heterogeneous network; (2) how to design a set of QoS mechanism for application in IEEE 802.16 and IEEE 802.11 integrated network to satisfy all service requirements by given the least bandwidth.
