Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 數理教育研究所 === 97 === The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of using mathematics writing activities in helping sixth grade students to improve their mathematics expression abilities. A class of 34 students joins this study. 6 of these students representing three different mathematics ability levels (high, middle, and low) were randomly selected for the purpose of analyzing the effects of teaching. Results of the study indicate that low mathematics ability students might gain more benefits from the teaching activities since they might have more chance to practice their mathematics writing skills than they had before. Middle level students’ performances are varied depending on their motivations. Higher motivation students might improve more their mathematics expression abilities. Higher level students did show any significant improvement from the activities of writing since they were good in mathematics expression from the beginning.
