Description
Summary:碩士 === 國立屏東教育大學 === 數理教育研究所 === 97 === This study examined the implementation and students’ learning benefits of astronomy observation in Astronomical Activity Camp focused on four-season celestial observation. The ways of improving the activity design and teaching strategies in Astronomical Activity Camp were provided. The participants were fifth graders from one elementary school in Tainan County. They involved in activities of creating a constellation, using the observation tools, listening to myths and legends, and introduction of seasonal constellations. Data collection included two phases. The first phase was to collect introspective reflection and students’ work in the learning process. Teachers’ teaching reflection, students’ group work, and feedback sheets were collected. At the second phase, the external evaluation was conducted. The surveys from the evaluation committee were collected and analyzed. To examine the implementation of activities and students’ learning, data from multiple sources such as teaching reflections, observation log, and surveys were analyzed through triangulation. The results are as follows. 1. In learning astronomical concepts, students can recognize the shape characteristics and locations of constellations. Also, students can fulfill the requirements of the astronomy observation. Nevertheless, they have difficulties in understanding the concepts of star’s luminosity, rising from the east and setting in the west, and changes of seasonal night sky. 2. In learning techniques of astronomy observation, most students can use observation tools. However, without utilizing them practically in sky watching, the outcomes cannot be identified. 3. From students’ feedback, students enjoyed themselves at Astronomical Activity Camp. Some members of evaluation committee thought students’ experience of applying what they’ve learned to locate the certain constellations provided them the sense of achievement, enhanced their self-confidence and efficiently increased their interest in astronomy area. 4. According to the results of the curriculum evaluation, the advantages and disadvantages of implementing Astronomical Activity Camp are found. The adapted activity design of Astronomical Activity Camp is provided. The recommendations of activity design, teaching, teaching media and future research are provided.
