It exists in bacterium, fungi, marine alga and some higher plant fruits, like tomatoes, watermelons, grapefruits and papayas etc. Because there are 13 unsaturated pairs of double bonds in the structure, it is unable to light, oxygen, heat , and it is also a very strong anti-oxidant. It is not injured by the sunshine, air pollution not only can protect plants, but also can oppose a variety of degradation diseases in the human body. Maybe it is benefited to reduce the danger of some cancers and heart disease to some extent. We cloned the full-length gene 1239bp of phytoene synthase(PSY) from aril of Momordica charantia L and forecast molecular weight of about 46 kDa. by RACE-PCR and registered the sequences on NCBI GenBank. This gene has been constructed into pET system (pET28b) and expressed in E. coli. However, the expression of this gene in pET28-PSY resulted in the accumulation of inclusion bodies. On the other hand we compare the ration of PSY gene in different organs such as the leaf, fruit of the Momordica charantia L. with RT-PCR again, probe into behavior amount to different organs of the bitter gourd PSY gene. Results showed that leaves and flowers of parts of the performance of PSY gene is regulated in a manner that conforms with addition, pulp and aril parts is no obvious differences.
