For the hard handoff mandatory handoff, a Mobiles Station (MS) moves from the Serving Base Station (BS) to the Target BS and the connection is interrupted to induce the handoff latency. The handoff latency results in the Medium Access Control Layer (MAC) packet lost, which induces the QoS problem for the time-sensitive applications. To effectively reduce the handoff latency, the Reserve Connection Identifier (RCID) scheme is proposed. The basic idea of RCID scheme is that the Target BS sends a CID to the MS in advance and the MS could receive the data immediately after handoff operations. Through the simulation of the proposed RCID scheme, the initialization time of handoff is effectively reduced and the total performance is improved. Hsu-Yang Kung 龔旭陽 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 75 zh-TW
