Subjects undergoing subtotal gastrectomy surgery were recruited from the GS ward in a medical center and randomly assigned to either the experimental group or the control group. The experimental group(n=23) was provided Neiquan and Zu-San-Li acupressure for five days, and the control group(n=24) only receives postoperative nursing instructions. The effects were determinated by the factors of pain, gastrointestinal motion, abdominal distention, and symptom distress. Data were analyzed by SPSS 17.0 for window. The results showed significant differences in the postoperative pain score between the two groups, but not in the postoperative gastrointestinal motion. The incidence of postoperative abdominal distention was similar between the two groups. The timing of removing nasogastric tube was similar between the two groups. No significant difference was found in the postoperative symptom distress between the two groups. Acupressure may be applied pain reduction to postoperative patients. It is recommended that further research on efficacy of acupressure for different kinds of postoperative patient could be conducted. Mei-Ling Yeh 葉美玲 2009 學位論文 ; thesis 88 zh-TW
